Dr. Ryan Budwany is a board-certified physician with a focus on interventional pain and functional medicine. He completed his medical specialty training at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital and completed his Medical Degree from Mercer University School of Medicine. Dr. Budwany has a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Emory University, a Master of Public Health in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety from Dartmouth College, and a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from the University of Massachusetts.

For the past three years, Dr. Budwany has served as the Young Physicians Section Chair on the West Virginia State Medical Association where he continues to work on healthcare policy to advocate for improving patient access to integrative pain care. Dr. Budwany is also the Executive Director of Medical Diplomats International, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes in rural mountain communities. Recently he participated in a research project with NASA, at the Johnson Space Center, studying the effects of microgravity and long-duration space travel on spine and back pain. Dr. Budwany has a passion for evidence-based medicine and has published numerous journal articles and book chapters and has presented nationally on his research.

His philosophy in pain management is to individualize the care plan to each patient’s specific goals for functional improvement. His additional specialized board certification training in Occupational Medicine further defines his commitment to his patients, who rely on him to help repair their injuries and to reduce the risk of disability as they seek to preserve their careers and to optimize their performance. Dr. Budwany offers his patients comprehensive pain management with a focus on minimally invasive procedures and regenerative medicine to help improve their function and quality-of-life.
